Team

Our team

The people behind the table.

Four staff, 340 volunteers, and one very old industrial oven.

  • Marcus Reed

    Executive director

Came for Thursday dinner in 2014 and never left.

    Read bio: Marcus Reed

Marcus first came to Common Table the week after he lost his warehouse job. He started washing dishes on Thursdays, then ran the Saturday crew, then the whole pantry.

Today he leads a staff of four and a board of nine. He still drives the Tuesday delivery route, because that's where he hears what neighbors need next.

  • Grace Lin

    Pantry manager

Keeps 40,000 pounds of food a month moving.

    Read bio: Grace Lin

Grace spent ten years in grocery logistics before she walked into the pantry as a volunteer. She rebuilt our shelves as a market, so guests choose their own food.

Ask her about the cold room. She'll tell you it holds exactly 212 crates.

  • Tom Hadley

    Garden lead

Grows a ton of vegetables on a quarter acre.

    Read bio: Tom Hadley

Tom taught high school biology for 31 years. Now he runs the community garden behind Alder Street and the Seedlings program for kids 6–12.

Everything he grows goes to Thursday dinner or the pantry shelves, usually the same day it's picked.

    Visit the garden

  • Sofía Ramos

    Volunteer coordinator

Matches 340 volunteers to the shifts that fit them.

    Read bio: Sofía Ramos

Sofía grew up two blocks from the pantry and started volunteering at 15. She places every new volunteer within two days, in English or Spanish.

Groups, schools, and first-timers: she's the one to call.
