I need groceries
Fresh food five days a week. No paperwork on your first visit.
Common Table · Northside · Since 2009
A free grocery pantry, a Thursday dinner for 200, and a two-acre garden on the Northside. Come hungry, come to help, or just come say hello.
Thursday dinner on Alder Street. Sixty seats, and nobody can tell the guests from the cooks.

Our story
Common Table began as a Thursday dinner for eleven people in a church basement. Today it's a pantry, a garden, a kitchen, and a market stand, all run by the neighbors who use them.
The next week there were twenty-two people. By winter, a restaurant that was closing gave us its range, and the Thursday dinner became a real kitchen with a real schedule.
We still work the same way: ask what neighbors need, then build it with them. No forms at the door, and a seat for anyone who walks in.
What we do
Each one is free, run by neighbors, and open to anyone who walks through the door.

The people
She knows every regular by name and every volunteer by how they chop onions. Most weeks she cooks for 200 with a crew she met that afternoon.
A letter from our director
This fall has been our busiest yet. More families are coming on Saturdays, and our shelves empty faster than they used to. I won't pretend that's easy.
But every week I watch this neighborhood show up for itself, and it gives me more hope than any number in our report. This table is yours.
